Sarah and Joel

After being in a few bridal parties that I have photographed i was stoked to hear that Sarah would now have her turn to be the bride. I seem to be dodging the weather really well as none of my bridal couples have gotten too wet in the crazy weather that has been going on over the last few weeks. If anything the cloud cover suits my photography style. There was just something really 'cool' about this wedding. The guys in the grey suits, the black range rover, the location for the photo shoot. It all just worked really well together. There was one shot where the bridal party was standing next to the car and it looked like it was straight out of a Guy Ritchie movie ( Snatch, Lock Stock and Sherlock Holmes ) I love his movie making style so i was stoked to get this look. The contrast between the two locations also will look really cool when it comes to putting an album together. Tiffany and Andrew E-Shoot

These photos were actually done on the afternoon of the day that I did the photos of Andrew and Cathy ( previous post ). Looking at the photos you would never pick it as the same day. Anyway, we were able to use the cool clouds in the background in some of the shots and get a mix of fun and romantic shots. I am looking forward to Andrew and Tiffs wedding and if they do as well on the wedding day as they did at the engagement shoot, the wedding shots should be a breeze.

Cathy and Andrew E-Shoot

I thought that the weather was really going to work against us today. And it wasn't a great day to be outside but these photos came out sooooo much better than i had anticipated. Andrew and Cathy were great to work with as they were able to get the idea of the shots i was after and therefore i hardly had to give them any direction at all. They were engaged at the lookout at the bottom of picnic point so we thought it would be good to go up there and get a few photos in and around the scenic drive. As we drove from the studio, the fog got thicker and thicker and by the time we arrived at the lookout you could barely see ten metres in front of you. We found a few thinner patches in the fog and the results speak for themselves i think.

Brannelly Boys

These boys cracked me up. There must be some hilarious moments in their household. Some of the facial expressions that they managed to pull off would have Jim Carrey struggling to copy them. I'm sure their Mother was secretly laughing but trying to keep a straight face to get them to smile 'nicely' for a few shots. In the end we managed to get some calm shots and some really nice ones of the three older boys together. First day of school holidays and the weather was wet and windy. Who can blame the young fellas for being full of energy. 

Karen and Michael

My first ever wedding in Warwick. After alomst 7 years of shooting weddings i had never been to Warwick to shoot. I am looking forward to going back though. The Abbey of the Roses and St Marys Cathedral were both pretty spectacular locations. Both absolute dreams for photographers. Even the stream of light through the stained glass window in the church was shining down on Michael and Karen. Reminded me of a scene from the Blues Brothers. James Brown wasn't the priest though. That would make for an interesting ceremony. And...back to my original train of throught. As soon as I walked into the room where the girls were getting ready i wanted to get the shoot of karen in front of the stained glass. AND IT WORKED!! Check it out above. We came back to the Abbey after the ceremony and the only reason i stopped shooting was the reception was beginning. Lots of ideas. Thanks guys for being so enthusiastic the whole time. I get a bit photographer nerdy when i have lots of ideas.

Emma and Ross E-Shoot

This shoot was another motivation for me to update the blog. A couple of weekends ago I photographed Ross and Emma's wedding and I still hadn't uploaded the engagement shoot photos. Very slack of me!! We had a great time doing the shoot and a massive thanks to Ross and Emma for putting up with me while i explored a couple of new locations. Not sure if they expected to be climbing over broken concrete slabs and through bushes and vines. Very Tarzan!! It was a great warm up for the wedding shoot and we even managed to get their guest book back in time for the wedding. At least i was efficient with that. Not so much with the blogging.

Pete and Cherie Maternity

Well, this is the beginning of a big blog session so, buckle up sports fans. I have been very slack with blogging over the last fortnight or so and was prompted to update it after I heard that Pete and Cherie were about to have their baby and I hadn't even posted their maternity shots. Pete was a groomsmen at my wedding and Pete and Cherie have been close friends on mine for many years. I am stoked that they are now growing their family and any second now am expecting a text about the details of their little ones birth. The wait is almost over!!

Heidi and Glen

The whole look of everything today all tied in so well. The guys had a great classic look with the gold wasitcoats and ties and Heidi's veil gave her a classic/vintage look the suited the garden backdrop perfectly. Just one minor hiccup. The limo got locked in the botanical gardens. They had arranged to have the gates opened after hours so the they were able to get out and get to the reception but this didn't happen quite to plan. I was blissfully unaware of this as I must have gotten out just in time. I was happily photographing away at the reception and then 10, 15, 25 minutes past and still no bride and groom. Me and Phil (the DJ) had a great chat though. Nice bloke. Good news is they did eventually make it and the night seemed to kick off a light note despite the gardens lock down.

The First Ever Salt Wedding

A bit of a flashback. The photos below are the first time the Salt Studios team ever collaborated together but not in the way you are thinking. After almost 6 years, times have definitely changed. My wife Letoya and I now have two beautiful little girls, have started and run our own business and even after all that we still like each other :-). Hope you guys like the blast from the past.

What a cutie. In the hour or so shoot we did, i don't think the camera stopped the entire time. Whenever i thought i had 'the shot' she would grin again or laugh or just get cuter. Very fun. Good luck to Mum and Dad to try and pick just one to put up on the wall.

Moore Family

You might remember Paul and Hayley from their wedding photos http://andrewcoatesphotography.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html about 18 months ago. Well...they are having a massive change in their life!! Off to Boston for a few years!! After many anxious months the time had come to pack the bags, give the hugs and kisses and say 'bon voyage'. But to give them a few memories from home, Hayley organised to get the family together for a portrait shoot. Even the fluffy, four legged member sof the family came along.
